Former Liberian President Weah Denied Access to VIP Lounge?

By: Abraham Multimedia Kollie

Monrovia, Liberia — In a surprising turn of events, former Liberian President George Manner Weah and his wife, Clara Weah, were said to be denied access to the newly dedicated VIP Lounge at the Robert International Airport upon their return to Liberia. The incident was said to have occurred following their arrival from an overseas trip.

2a Communication learned that the denial of access was communicated by protocol officers stationed at the VIP Lounge. However, the specific reasons behind this decision remain undisclosed. Abraham Kollie, a correspondent for 2a, has been unable to confirm the rationale for the denial or establish any clear criteria for VIPs allowed to use the facility.

Sekou Kalasco, the former President’s special aide, shed light on the situation. While in Accra, Ghana, he said, they received a call from one of Weah’s security personnel in Liberia, informing them that the former President would not be permitted to use the new VIP Lounge. Kalasco further revealed that the protocol officers at the Lounge cited that it was an “order from above” as the basis for their decision.

The former President expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing that during his own tenure, he had even extended VIP Lounge privileges to former ministers from Madam Sirleaf’s government. The locked doors of the new VIP Lounge left him dissatisfied, prompting questions about the fairness of the treatment.

In response to the situation, the Presidential Press Secretary has posted on her Facebook page that the "Former President George Weah was never denied access to the VIP Lounge at the Airport! Infarct he was welcomed with open arms," Kula V. Fofana posted.

How be it, as the situation unfolds, observers await further details on the matter, and discussions surrounding the use of the VIP Lounge. And whether it is exclusive for President Boakai, other former presidents or who are the VIPs? were there guidelines created under the Weah's administration or is he suffering waiver and lashes resulting from failure to have followed good standards as noted in other places around the world.

For insight, 2a communication gathered some information on the universal way to use a VIP lounge. Importantly, it can vary depending on established policy as countries deem necessary.

Application of the word VIP (Very Important Person) is beyond Presidents:

While the term “VIP” is commonly associated with presidents, Microsoft says, it is not limited to them. VIP status can apply to anyone who holds significant influence, fame, or importance in their respective fields.

The use of the term depends on context and the specific privileges granted in a given situation.

In summary, VIPs encompass a diverse group of influential individuals, and the application of the term extends beyond presidents to recognize individuals with exceptional prominence.

So, on this matter, let's hear from you.
